It spread mainly in Kyoto as a technique for dyeing traditional Japan hand towels and summer yukata, which were essential items in daily life at the time. Chusen dyes the material by pouring dye through the fabric using gravity and pressure. By pouring dye from top to bottom onto the fabric, the threads themselves are dyed, and it is characterized by the beautiful gradation created by the "blurring" effect unique to Chusen, which differs from tie-dyeing or uneven dyeing. At D' Artisan, we have created a camouflage pattern using this traditional technique. Currently, only one company in Kojima, Okayama Prefecture, in Japan possesses the machinery to perform Chusen dyeing. This dyeing technique has become extremely rare. As the colors mix, areas are dyed darker and lighter, creating a natural balance of colors and a beautiful gradation. Please enjoy its unique texture.
