SUEKI x BUAISOU “Indigo Kannyu” Ceramics
Otani-yaki, known for its production of indigo dye and pottery, has flourished in Tokushima Prefecture.
Yano Toen (Pottery), using Otani-Yaki pottery style, has a history of 130 years, and has now launched a brand called SUEKI.
Soil from the Otani area is mixed and baked so the base becomes a warm color.
To the unique intrusive pattern of ceramics, we put “indigo flowers” into the pottery design by by hand. Indigo flowers are small bubbles under the surface of the glaze of the porcelain.
※ Intrusive ... A fine crack pattern that can be made on the glaze of porcelain
