This coach jacket is made from the original "Kakishibu-zome Noragi Sashiko." The Kaki-shibu Some (persimmon tannin dye) is carefully adjusted to create a check pattern using three different colors of persimmon tannin-dyed yarn. Vertically and horizontally, the sashiko stitching features a traditional persimmon leaf design. The fabric undergoes a high-temperature wash, allowing the difference in shrinkage between the yarn count and material to create a textured, hand-sashiko-like bulge. The collar is made of corduroy and lined for added comfort.

In the era when traditional Japanese clothing was still the norm, cotton garments were a rare and valuable commodity. They were essential for survival, protecting against the cold and the heat.

Even when kimono fabric became worn and tattered, it was carefully patched and reused. The people of that time never wasted their clothing; instead, they continuously repurposed it.

The unique combinations of patterns and the warmth of hand-stitched sashiko created during this process exude unparalleled beauty. D’Artisan has expressed the "Noragi Sashiko" in this collection using persimmon-dyed thread. Three distinct shades of persimmon-dyed thread were created to form a checkered pattern by adjusting the persimmon dye and the number of dyeing cycles.

The vertical and horizontal sashiko stitching employs the traditional Japanese "kaki-no-ha" (persimmon leaf) motif, a classic design in sashiko embroidery. What has emerged is a truly unique piece, a modern interpretation of the 'Noragi' workwear of old, skillfully and proudly brought to life with contemporary artisans' craftsmanship, knowledge, and dedication. The result is a one-of-a-kind creation, the "Kaki Shibu Noragi Sashiko."

"Craftsmanship with quality and integrity"

Influenced by French workwear and American vintage, "STUDIO D'ARTISAN" was the first to reissue vintage jeans in Japan in 1979. The brand's guiding principle is not to reproduce" old clothes, but to "reconstrust" them anew, incorporating the essence of the period and production background that can only be found in Japan. SDA will continue to create and pursue new values while keeping an eye on the next generation of vintage.
