The Kandalama Perch Bench was designed by Channa Daswatte, who joined Bawa’s practice in 1991 and later led the firm. Installed at Kandalama Hotel in 2005 after Bawa’s passing, it functioned both as seating and sculpture. Its robust timber structure encouraged multiple uses and created a space for communal gathering. The re-edition refines proportions for comfort, reduces material waste by using commonly available plank sizes, and has a flat-pack design for economical shipping.
