Designer: Geoffrey Bawa
This sofa was designed around 1968 for Geoffrey Bawa’s Colombo residence (No. 11, 33rd Lane). Bawa made a platform to fit a standard size 1960s Sri Lankan mattress, and then added a timber-framed hardboard backrest. It featured coconut-fibre cushions and Barefoot’s signature checked fabric. The re-edition is made with the same Barefoot checked fabric used by Bawa, with a knit backing for durability and backrest cushions in contemporary patterns and colours
