Poul M. Volther was an important champion of Scandinavian functionalism. Although rooted in a rationalist design dogma and inspired by the purpose-driven mindset of the Bauhaus movement, Volther was eager to experiment with new methodologies. His unerring sense of detail and appreciation of material properties resulted in simple, stylised furniture with a subtle yet striking aesthetic. |
